Austin Carroll

Tennessee Timber Consultants, LLC is owned and operated by Austin Carroll. Austin began his professional career in 2010 after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Forest Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Austin has worked with hundreds of landowners throughout the state, assisting them in managing their forests. His specialties include evaluating, managing, and marketing timber.

In December 2017, Austin purchased Tennessee Timber Consultants, LLC. He is a member of the Association of Consulting Foresters, the Society of American Foresters, the Tennessee Forestry Association, and is the Chief Manager of Tennessee Timber Consultants, LLC. Austin is also a licensed Real Estate Agent with Tutt Land Company.

Dr. David Mercker

Dr. David Mercker joined Tennessee Timber Consultants, LLC, in December of 2025 after retiring as Forestry Specialist with the University of Tennessee Extension. He has 40 years of professional experience, and his education includes a BS, MS, and PhD in Forest Resources. His lifelong passion has been to educate and work with private forest landowners in the sustainable management of their forest lands. Dr. Mercker has numerous publications covering all aspects of hardwood timber management and has developed many successful educational programs directed to private landowners, including: Tennessee Healthy Hardwoods, Welcome to Your Woods, Forest*A*Syst, and Tennessee’s County Forestry Associations. Among his numerous awards, include: Fellow with the Society of American Foresters (2014), National Family Forest Educator (2016), and the National Extension Forester (2020). David’ approach to forestry embodies our company’s motto to the fullest, “your forest, our passion.” You’ll enjoy working with him.
